Dominican Network

Are you looking for a youth initiated Catholic group that strives to facilitate cooperation among member schools and other educational institutions by sharing resources and various expertise in different fields and endeavours? Then you should get in touch with a member or representative from the Dominican Network or DomNet. The organization was established and officially organized on November 14-16 1995. It was launched within the University of Santo Tomas’s EdTech Center and was attended by nine founding schools namely: the Aquinas University of Legaspi, Letran College of Calamba, Letran College of Manila, Holy Trinity College of Palawan, Siena College of Quezon City, Siena College of Taytay, Sta. Catalina College of Legarda, St.Catherine’s College of Carcar, and University of Santo Tomas. Soon after, Angelicum College of Quezon City and San Pedro College of Davao City joined the network to form the board of trustees of DOMNET.

In answer to the importance of youth involvement, the DomNet Youth Group has undertaken various projects. These projects not only encompass educational oriented projects but also extra curricular activities that enhance a Dominican student’s talents and qualities by getting ivolved in youth festivals, youth camps, declarations, advocacies, and even outreach activities.

For student leaders there are also retreats and recollections, leadership training seminars, symposia, and have participated in various environmental projects such as tree planting and waste segregation. This will help create more awareness in terms of personal development and a penchant for caring for the environment.

The DomNet also engages in educational frontiers using evangelical means of Dominican thrusts through Dominican Spirituality, Collaborative Educational Competence, Concerted Dominican Action and Effective Communication Network.

To further identify the differences of DomNet from other evangelistic groups established from catholic educational insitutions, here are the basic premises:

1. DomNet is an Identity – The core of the organization’s vision should spring from the identity as Dominicans rather than the institution or organization itself. It is therefore essential for DomNet to be hewn from the very heart of our persons than the structure of organization we design. Every DomNet youth must be able to discover, appreciate, and promote his or her Dominican identity.

2. DomNet is a Family – It is not just an ordinary network. It is first and foremost a family. The bond that binds each and every DomNet member is not simply the mutual covenant between parties but the grace transfigured and bestowed by the Holy Trinity (the undivided unity). As children of God we belong to the Family and we intensify our witness of this through the kinship flowing from the charism of the Order of Preachers in the fatherhood of St. Dominic de Guzman.

3. The DomNet Personality and Culture – Corollary to the basic premises is our DOMNET PERSONALITY AND CULTURE guided by our MISSION-VISION. Based on our Dominican identity and family what then are expected of us in terms of life and living.
